Senate Unanimously Approves National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk

Key Takeaways

  • Unanimous Senate Vote: The Senate approved Senator Rick Scott’s resolution establishing October 14, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.
  • Honoring a Patriot: Senators praised Kirk as a devout husband, father, and champion of faith, free markets, and limited government.
  • Legacy of Ideas: Kirk’s work through Turning Point USA inspired millions of young Americans to embrace debate, defend liberty, and strengthen America’s future.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate did something rare: it came together in unity. By unanimous consent, senators approved a resolution designating October 14, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk—honoring the late Turning Point USA founder’s impact on American culture, faith, and free enterprise.

The resolution, led by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and co-sponsored by more than 20 Republican colleagues including Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marsha Blackburn, and Lindsey Graham, pays tribute to Kirk’s enduring legacy. Congressman Jimmy Patronis is carrying the companion resolution in the House.

“Charlie was a good man – a devout husband, father, and friend,” Scott said on the Senate floor. “He believed in God, the American dream, the value of family, and the principles of our great nation.”

Kirk, assassinated on September 10 in a politically motivated attack, dedicated his career to growing Turning Point USA into a national network of student chapters promoting limited government, free markets, and American exceptionalism. Known for engaging directly with students, Kirk never shied away from debate—welcoming dissent and defending conservative ideas in the public square.

Scott added: “Charlie was taken from us in a disgusting act of political violence… but his legacy lives on. We have the opportunity to carry on his memory by believing in the power of our ideas.”

In a moment of national division, the Senate’s unanimous passage shows something vital: America still honors patriots who defend liberty, faith, and family. Charlie Kirk’s voice may have been silenced, but his movement marches forward.
