DeSantis Pushes HUGE Property Tax Relief, Rebates for Florida Home Owners

0

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis proposed a whopping $5.1 billion property tax relief plan, which includes $1,000 rebates for homesteaded properties and a potential ballot initiative for lower property taxes in 2026. He also emphasized the need for tax relief focused on Florida residents and homeowners, highlighting the burden of rising property taxes.

The Center Square reports:

Property property tax relief for Floridians through $5.1 billion in a proposed sales tax cut is being sought by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

He wants lawmakers to issue $1,000 for each of about 5.1 million homesteaded properties in the state. The rebates would be issued in December, covering state-mandated school property taxes, which he says would prevent a loss in funding for districts.

The state House of Representatives proposed reducing the state’s sales tax from 6% to 5.25% on Wednesday.

DeSantis added a state-level version of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency should examine local budgets to determine savings that can be passed to homeowners being hit by rising assessments on property values.

“Of all the taxes impacting Floridians, property taxes are the most significant,” DeSantis said. “So when you’re doing proposals, whether it’s working with the Legislature, whether it’s putting something on the ballot, to me, the threshold question is the tax relief needs to be Florida first.

“We need to focus on our Florida residents and to focus on in this case, Florida homeowners, particularly our homesteaded homeowners and we need to focus our relief there.”

The second-term Republican governor and former presidential candidate said he wants a ballot initiative aimed at lower property taxes on the 2026 ballot that he says will provide “robust protections” for homeowners in the state constitution.

He also said property taxes are an anomaly because these taxes aren’t voluntary consumption based and basically mean homeowners are paying “rent” to the government for their property, even if the mortgage is fully paid.

“I know people that bought their homes for $250,000 30 years ago and now they’re assessed at over a million dollars. That’s not something out of the ordinary,” DeSantis said. “That’s a source of wealth if you’re free and clear of the mortgage, but one of the drawbacks is in the form of property taxes and so people have seen that even with a homestead exemption that has not be enough to be able to protect people against these rising assessments.”

Report: Vietnam Wants to Negotiate – Offers to Cut Tariffs on U.S. to ZERO

According to President Donald Trump, Vietnam is open to negotiating tariffs, and even offered to drop tariffs on U.S. goods completely if a deal can be made.

He revealed that this came after a phone call with the general secretary of Vietnam’s Communist Party, To Lam.

“Just had a very productive call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut their Tariffs down to ZERO if they are able to make an agreement with the U.S.,” the president wrote in a Truth Social post.

He added, “I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future.”

This is exactly what President Donald Trump is gearing at. Reciprocal tariffs to strong-arm the countries ripping off the United States, and force them to drop their tariffs on us. This is just proof that his tactics are working.

Cruz Breaks Rank, Sounds Alarm: ‘Tariffs Terrible for America’

On Thursday, Republican Senator Ted Cruz appeared on Fox Business Network and broke rank with the Trump administration on tariffs. He declaring that perpetual high tariffs are a “tax on consumers” and poor economic policy. He added that the only beneficial outcome would be other countries lowering their tariffs so the U.S. can then cut its tariffs.

The Texas senator said, “I think it is a mistake to assume that we will have high tariffs in perpetuity. I don’t think that would be good economic policy. I am not a fan of tariffs. And the announcement yesterday, look, time is going to tell, in the next month or two or three what happens.”

Cruz continued, “If the result of yesterday’s announcement is a lot of our trading partners across the globe dramatically reduce the tariffs they charge on U.S. goods and services and the consequence of that is the U.S. government dramatically cuts the tariffs that were announced yesterday, that would be a great outcome. That would be good for America. If the result is our trading partners jack up their tariffs and we have high tariffs everywhere, I think that is a bad outcome for America. Tariffs are a tax on consumers, and I’m not a fan of jacking up taxes on American consumers. So, my hope is these tariffs are short-lived and they serve as leverage to lower tariffs across the globe.”

On Friday, the Senate Commerce Chairman stated on his podcast that despite “Republican cheerleaders reflexively defending what the White House is doing,” the tariffs could “hurt jobs and hurt America.”

He revealed that he spoke to one of the “Big Three” automakers in the U.S. (likely GM, Ford, or Chrysler) and they told him the tariffs could raise vehicle prices by almost $5,000.

“This U.S. car company told me they actually thought foreign car companies would benefit more than they would, because if you send it over here, you pay one tariff, whereas this guys are getting hit on each part that is going over,” Cruz said.

“If we go into a recession — particularly a bad recession — 2026 in all likelihood, politically would be a bloodbath.” He added in regards to midterm elections, “The upside could be massive, but the downside could be massive.”

GOP Sen. Johnson Says He’ll Talk to Trump About Tariff ‘Exemptions’

On Thursday, Republican Senator Ron Johnson appeared in an interview with “PBS NewsHour” and stated that he will be speaking with President Donald Trump about the problems manufacturers could face in regards to tariffs on imported products that are no longer made in the United States. He declared that “it’s going to take a long time to onshore some of those products. So, we’ll certainly be talking to the president as this thing continues to drag out in terms of exemptions to make sure that businesses can survive.”

PBS co-host Amna Nawaz asked, “[W]hen you say the pain level, who’s going to feel that? What industries and sectors are you most worried about in your home state?”

Johnson replied, “Well, again, manufacturers that export, manufacturers that import products that aren’t, for example, made in America anymore, it’s going to take a long time to onshore some of those products. So, we’ll certainly be talking to the president as this thing continues to drag out in terms of exemptions to make sure that businesses can survive.”

Nawaz pressed, “And if there aren’t exemptions…for the companies that are going to have to bear some short-term pain, would you suggest that the government come up with some kind of subsidies or something to help mitigate some of that in the short term?”

Johnson answered, “Subsidies are very difficult to design, to really allocate fairly. I know President Trump, there will be revenue brought in. He certainly allocated that amongst farmers in the first round of increasing tariffs in his first administration. So, my guess is that might be one of the solutions they might have for some of the dislocations and some of the pain.”

Navarro Gives Frail Call to Action: ‘Stand Up to Trump’s Sick Deportations’

On Friday, ABC’s “The View” co-host Ana Navarro gave an extremely weak call for Americans to “stand up” against President Donald Trump and his “cruel” deportations of violent criminals. Apparently she thought she was going to really rally the troops with this one.

Navarro declared, “I’m glad and grateful we’re talking about this because America cannot get numb to the cruelty being inflicted on the Latino community, specifically by the Trump administration. Look, in my view, these people, mostly men, the ones they sent to El Salvador, are props as part of Donald Trump’s sick, cruel charade.”

She continued, “He built this narrative that there was this gang that was overtaking America and that he was going to send hardened criminals and rapists, monsters to this out of the country, get rid of them. The problem is that finding them and identifying them is not that easy. So then they’re picking up, I mean, understand this, they are disappearing people. Some of these wives and loved ones are finding out that their husbands, that their brothers are in this jail because they happened to see a video that was put out by the government of El Salvador.”

Navarro continued, “Can you imagine the grief, the distress, the sadness, the anxiety of a loved one not knowing where your relative is because they’ve been picked up off the street while they’re with the deaf, autistic, 5-year-old U.S. citizen son or because they are disappeared from an ICE appointment? What kind of country is this?”

She added, “America, we cannot let this continue. You have got to stand up. You have got to call your congresspeople.”

Trump Admin Freezes Over $500 Million to Brown University

According to reports, the Trump administration is freezing $510 million in federal funds designated to Brown University, as the school is under investigation for antisemitism as well as implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

In February, institutions like Brown were warned by the Department of Education that actions would be taken if they did not “do not fulfill their obligations under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to protect Jewish students on campus.”

“The Department is deeply disappointed that Jewish students studying on elite U.S. campuses continue to fear for their safety amid the relentless antisemitic eruptions that have severely disrupted campus life for more than a year. University leaders must do better,” Education Secretary Linda McMahon said at the time.

She added, “U.S. colleges and universities benefit from enormous public investments funded by U.S. taxpayers. That support is a privilege, and it is contingent on scrupulous adherence to federal anti-discrimination laws.”

Newsmax reports:

Brown is currently under federal monitoring following an earlier civil rights investigation and a related agreement with the department.

An administration official told the Daily Caller that Brown’s grant freeze follows the administration’s earlier move to pause $210 million in funding to Princeton University amid a similar federal probe.

The investigation into Princeton stems from a complaint filed during the Biden administration.

In 2024, Biden’s Department of Education opened a civil rights investigation after Zachary Marschall, editor-in-chief of Campus Reform, alleged that Princeton failed to respond to antisemitic incidents on campus adequately. His complaint focused on an Oct. 25, 2023, student walkout in support of Palestinians, during which demonstrators chanted, “Brick by brick, wall by wall, apartheid has got to fall.”

Several Ivy League schools are under the federal spotlight now. The Trump admin has already withdrawn $175 million from the University of Pennsylvania for allowing men to compete in women’s sports, and $400 million to Columbia University was frozen over antisemitism complaints.

17Yo Football MVP Stabbed to Death at High School Track Meet

0

In what can only be described as a heartless, evil act, 17-year-old Austin Metcalf was fatally stabbed in the heart at a Texas high school track meet by 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony. To make things even more bizarre, they two did not even know each other.

According to Metcalf’s father, his son had a 4.0 GPA, was the MVP of the football team, and had a bright future ahead of him.

At the time of the stabbing, Metcalf’s twin brother was nearby and witnessed the tragedy take place. He held his brother in his arms as he passed away.

Here is the interview that Metcalf’s grieving father gave to the press:

Anthony has since been charged with murder. Yet, we likely won’t hear about this on the mainstream media because it does not fit the narrative. There will be no rioting, no looting, no protests. Only a family and community left to grieve an absolutely senseless murder.

Top Dem Admits to Holding ‘Shadow Hearings’ to Expose ‘Corruption’ in Trump Admin

Democrats are not even hiding their sinister plots anymore! Now they boast about it on live television, and no one even bats an eye.

On Wednesday, Democrat Senator Adam Schiff appeared on MSNBC’s “Prime” and bragged about Democrats holding shadow hearings to “expose” so-called “corruption” in the Trump Administration.

MSNBC co-host Alicia Menendez inquired, “You announced today a set of hearings are going to have next week with fired DOJ officials. What is it you are hoping to learn from them?”

Schiff replied, “Well, today as you know, we saw the case, the corruption case against the mayor of New York dismissed with prejudice. That means that case can never be brought again. It wasn’t dismissed because of a lack of evidence. It was dismissed because the administration tried to engage in a corrupt bargain with the mayor, in which it would make the charges go away, at least for a time, if he would do their bidding on unrelated policy matters. The only losers there are the American people. In the judiciary committee, we’re not having hearings on any of this, any of these abuses of power. What happened in New York is just one of many examples.”

He continued, “So I’m teaming up with Jamie Raskin. We’re doing our own hearing to bring in some of the prosecutors who were fired or had to quit because of these corrupt acts. We’re also bringing in a young attorney who left one of the major law firms because the law firms are capitulating to the Trump administration and are also giving in to this campaign of abuse of power and an attack on the rule of law.”

The senator added, “Shedding a light through these spotlight or shadow hearings, like we’re going to do on Monday at 330, we’re going to expose this corruption at the top of the Justice Department for the American people to see. And that’s one way also of putting pressure on this administration and pressure on our Republican colleagues to do something about the runaway corruption of this administration.”

But wait….there’s more! There is even footage of these “corruption” meetings.

As shared by breaking news journalist Eric Daugherty, here is a recent “shadow hearing” in which democrats discussed President Donald Trump dismantling USAID. During the meeting, a former USAID official claimed that foreign aid is needed in order to “prevent another 9/11.”

Trump Unveils Chart of Reciprocal Tariffs: ‘They Charge Us, We Charge Them’

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump laid down the iron fist and presented a chart detailing his list of reciprocal tariffs to impose. He declared, “They charge us, we charge them!”

“China, 67 percent tariffs charged to the USA, including currency manipulation and trade barriers,” Trump explained during a press conference to announce his trade policies, which he has deemed “liberation day.”

“At 67 percent, we’re going to be charging a discounted reciprocal tariff of 34 percent, in other words, they charge us, we charge them, we charge them less, how can anybody be upset,” the president continued.

He noted that the European Union is “very tough” and that they “rip us off” every chance they get. Seeing how they charge the United States a 39 percent import tax, we will charge them a reciprocal 20 percent.

Trump also mentioned how the Vietnamese are “great negotiators” and “great people” but they charge the United States 90 percent. Therefore, America will place a 46 percent tariff in response.

“Foreign nations will finally be asked to pay for the privilege of access to our market — the biggest market in the world,” the president continued.

“In the coming days, there will be complaints from the globalists, the outsourcers, special interests, and Fake News… Never forget that every prediction our opponents made about trade for the last 30 years has been proven totally wrong,” Trump added. “They were wrong about NAFTA, they were wrong about China, they were wrong about the Trans Pacific Partnership… In my first term, they said tariffs would crash the economy. Instead, we built the greatest economy in the history of the world.”
