Mike Johnson has once again been elected as Speaker of the House, a surprising twist that unfolded after two Republicans changed their votes at the last minute during the first round. This unexpected turn of events confirmed Matt Gaetz’s earlier prediction that Johnson would secure the position in the initial voting phase.

Initially, many doubted Gaetz’s foresight and were quick to dismiss his confidence. However, as it turns out, he was spot on.

This development raises questions about Johnson’s leadership capabilities and his influence within Congress. Some critics (myself included) argue that despite his re-election, there is little to show for his time in office. From what I’ve seen, he merely furthers Democratic policies while wearing the mantle of “Republican” leadership, leaving much to be desired from a conservative standpoint.

Adding another layer to this political puzzle is Donald Trump’s endorsement of Johnson for Speaker once more. What does Trump sees in Johnson that we might be missing??

All eyes are on Johnson now to see if he delivers on Trump’s agenda or continues to follow his own. Republicans have the majority in every branch….It’s time to show up and show out. We can make some real progress if people get their heads out of the swamp and into making America great.

Meanwhile, Safeway’s offerings were even higher; their 18-count Lucerne Farms Cage-Free Large White Eggs were tagged at $12.99 online, though a dozen wasn’t available for purchase.

The state officials have since demanded a mass culling of chickens due to the illness.

Both Walmart and Safeway’s parent company, Albertsons, have remained silent on these escalating egg prices. The USDA commented that “demand for shell eggs rose slightly in the last two weeks of the year,” noting that tight supplies from bird flu outbreaks have driven prices beyond previous records set back in December 2022.

Adding to the complexity is an FDA report indicating a 4% drop in U.S. egg production this past November. The combination of bird flu and rising costs is impacting both supply chains and consumers significantly.

Kevin Bergquist from Wells Fargo Agri-Food Institute explained that egg prices have remained high since 2023 began, pointing out that holiday demand and disruptions caused by bird flu are major contributors. Throughout the past year, prices frequently exceeded those seen in 2022 when they were already impacted by bird flu concerns.

In November alone, wholesale prices surged by 55%, although consumer pricing varied across different locations and retailers. The Consumer Price Index revealed a modest increase of 0.5% in grocery costs for November; however, eggs experienced the most significant hike at 8.2%. While meat, poultry, and fish saw price increases of about 1.7%, it was eggs that led this upward trend.

Before the bird flu outbreak hit in March 2022, wholesale egg prices were comfortably below $1.50 per dozen—an outbreak that severely disrupted market stability and led to record highs by December of that year. Prices found some level of stabilization throughout 2023 as efforts to rebuild flocks took effect.

In 2022 data from the Department of Homeland Security revealed that Mexicans accounted for over 40% of illegal immigrants in the U.S., while Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras collectively represented over one-fifth of this population.

Guatemala stands out among its neighbors due to its proactive stance toward engaging with Trump’s administration compared to El Salvador and Honduras. Meetings between members of Trump’s transition team and Guatemalan officials have already taken place involving figures such as Sen. Marco Rubio and representatives from organizations like the Heritage Foundation.

The second Guatemalan official highlighted that their primary focus would be on reintegrating their own citizens first upon return. They stressed that every nation should assume responsibility for its people but also expressed hope for establishing a regional pact with countries like Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador aimed at facilitating free movement across borders. This initiative seeks to enable deportees returning home equipped with skills acquired in America which can then be utilized within Guatemala’s private sector.

He declared that Trump supporters are “dumb f—ing idiots” and then mocked their “stupid MAGA brain” during a recent episode of his show.

“You’re so f—ing stupid, and you deserve it,” Lemon said. “Yes, I am gloating over your stupidity.”

“I’m cackling in Kamala,” he added, “You’ve been co-opted because you’re in a f—ing cult. You don’t even realize it because you have stupid MAGA brain and you don’t get it. How stupid and dumb are you?”

It sounds to me like he has come down with a serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Perhaps he should seek some help. Talk to a therapist. Point at a poster to show exactly where the truth hurt his little feelings.

Many people are already feeling divided over key issues, and public figures like Lemon often find themselves in the spotlight for their candid takes. Which is exactly why he does it. President Biden delivered a speech on Wednesday discussing the troubling events in New Orleans. According to reports, a terrorist suspect allegedly shared messages inspired by ISIS on social media before carrying out an attack.

Biden stated, “Here’s what we know so far…” and further mentioned that the FBI informed him about videos posted just hours before the incident. These videos reportedly expressed a disturbing desire to commit acts of violence.

“Here’s what we know so far,“ he declared. “The FBI also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social media indicating that it was inspired by ISIS expressing the desire to kill, the desire to kill.”

Which is an interesting statement considering the FBI initially declared that it was not a terrorist attack. So is the FBI just slacking per usual, or did was Biden privy to information that they didn’t mean for him to share and then had to pivot their story?

Something isn’t adding up.

The FBI said it was investigating early Wednesday’s attack in which the driver steered around a police blockade and slammed into revelers before being shot dead by police as a terrorist act and did not believe he acted alone.

Investigators found guns and what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in the vehicle — which bore the flag of the Islamic State group — along with other explosive devices elsewhere in the city’s famed French Quarter.

President Joe Biden said Wednesday evening that the FBI found the videos the driver posted to social media. He called the attack a “despicable” and “heinous act.”

The rampage turned festive Bourbon Street into a macabre scene of maimed victims, bloodied bodies and pedestrians fleeing for safety inside nightclubs and restaurants. In addition to the dead, dozens of people were hurt. A college football playoff game at the nearby Superdome was postponed until Thursday.

“This is not just an act of terrorism. This is evil,” New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said.

Authorities are investigating a dramatic incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning. Law enforcement officials suspect that fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel were linked to a detonation system controlled by the driver of the vehicle. The FBI is examining whether this was an act of terrorism, but they currently believe it was an isolated event with no ongoing threat to public safety.

The explosion occurred just after 8:40 a.m., when emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the Cybertruck engulfed in flames. Tragically, one person was found dead inside the vehicle, and their identity is still being confirmed by authorities. Seven other individuals were injured in the blast but are reported to be in stable condition.

The investigation revealed that the truck had been rented in Colorado and arrived in Las Vegas at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. It drove up and down Las Vegas Boulevard before stopping at the Trump Hotel, where it exploded shortly thereafter. Surveillance footage shows the driver circling near the hotel about an hour before parking and triggering the explosion.

Videos shared on social media captured images of smoke billowing from the car as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. During a press conference, police displayed charred gasoline canisters and firework mortars found in the truck’s bed. Authorities have identified who rented the truck but have not released any names as they continue their investigation.

Interestingly, Sheriff Kevin McMahill noted that because of its design, most of the blast from the Cybertruck went upwards rather than causing extensive damage around it; notably, even nearby glass doors remained intact after such a powerful explosion.

Elon Musk has been credited with assisting law enforcement by providing video footage from Tesla charging stations to help track down details about this case. The vehicle was rented through Turo, which coincidentally also provided another vehicle involved in a separate incident in New Orleans.

Turo expressed their sorrow over these violent events and emphasized their cooperation with law enforcement efforts while maintaining high standards for risk management through advanced trust and safety technologies.
