Dan Bongino to Join Trump Administration? Here’s What We Know

As President-elect Donald Trump gears up for his return to the White House, he’s considering a major overhaul of the U.S. Secret Service. The agency, which is supposed to protect our nation’s leaders, has been a disaster lately. According to reports, Trump is looking at Dan Bongino, a strong conservative voice and former Secret Service agent, as a possible new leader.

According to CNN, Trump’s dissatisfaction with the Secret Service’s recent performance is driving this potential shake-up. The agency faced heavy criticism after two alleged assassination attempts on Trump during his campaign. It’s clear that they failed to counter emerging threats effectively.

Bongino, known for his passionate support of Trump and fiery rhetoric, stands out from the typical low-profile Secret Service leadership. His experience as an agent during both the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations gives him credibility in law enforcement circles.

Trump’s frustrations with the Secret Service are nothing new. During his first term, the agency was plagued by staffing issues and security blunders, like the infamous Mar-a-Lago breach where an intruder got onto the property. While no official decision has been announced, it’s uncertain if Bongino would even accept the role if it’s offered to him.

After an assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, Bongino described the Secret Service’s performance as “absolutely catastrophic.” He praised Trump’s quick thinking during the incident, saying that Trump “saved his own life” by ducking at just the right moment.

“The bunting around the front of the stage is likely armor. Donald Trump knew to duck. I mean, most people would. He saved his own life,” Bongino explained on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Sunday.” In response to the assassination attempt, Bongino testified before Congress about multiple security failures and expressed concerns over the agency’s leadership and operational protocols.

“Let’s just get right to the point. This was an apocalyptic security failure. A man was murdered in front of his family,” Bongino said.

“Three people were shot on live television, including President Trump….who came within two millimeters of having his head explode on national television in front of millions of people. There’s no sugarcoating it. It’s no time for BS.”
