‘Cornhusker Clink’: Nebraska Puts Muscle Behind Deportation Agenda

Key Takeaways

  • Law and Order Partnership: Nebraska is teaming up with Trump’s administration by opening a 300-bed detention facility and deploying National Guard support for ICE operations.
  • Protecting Taxpayers: Federal funding covers detainee housing, while Nebraska ensures control—preventing illegal immigration from draining state resources.
  • Message to Illegal Immigrants: Governor Pillen and Secretary Noem made it clear—criminal aliens aren’t getting a free pass. Break the law, and you could end up in the “Cornhusker Clink.”

Nebraska is showing the nation what federal-state partnership looks like when leadership actually respects law and order. Governor Jim Pillen announced this week that the state’s Work Ethic Camp in McCook will be converted into a new immigration detention center—already earning the nickname the “Cornhusker Clink.”

The facility will house up to 300 detainees awaiting deportation, funded by federal dollars but run under Nebraska’s Department of Corrections. Meanwhile, Nebraska National Guard soldiers will assist ICE with logistics, and the State Patrol will train troopers to help arrest criminal aliens. In short: Trump’s immigration enforcement strategy just got some serious muscle from the heartland.

“This is about keeping Nebraskans – and Americans across our country – safe,” Pillen said, praising President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for their efforts to restore sanity to border policy. Noem added, “If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Nebraska’s Cornhusker Clink. Avoid arrest and self-deport now using the CBP Home App.”

Of course, left-wing nonprofits cried foul, claiming this isn’t “who we are.” Wrong. Who we are is a nation of laws. And laws mean nothing if they aren’t enforced. Businesses and taxpayers alike pay the price when illegal immigration undercuts wages, strains schools, and drains resources.

By stepping up, Nebraska is helping deliver what Washington elites ignored for decades: accountability, enforcement, and safety. Trump’s message is simple—secure borders, safer communities, and a stronger America. Nebraska just made it clear: they’re all in.
