Actor Dick Van Dyke, approaching his 99th birthday, expressed his relief at not having to endure another four years under Donald Trump’s leadership. His comments reflect the extreme Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) prevalent among Hollywood elites who can’t fathom the idea of a successful Republican presidency.
“Fortunately, I won’t be around to experience the four years,” the Mary Poppins star said when asked if Trump could “make America great again,” according to a report by Daily Mail.
Imagine wanting to be dead rather than having a president who doesn’t play into your delusions.

When asked about America’s future prospects, Van Dyke responded with uncertainty, saying, “I hope you’re right,” while his wife reacted with disbelief.
Interestingly, Van Dyke had endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in an Instagram post before Election Day. He bizarrely equated the current political climate to the U.S. Civil Rights Movement by reading a speech he originally delivered alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on May 31, 1964.

After delivering his dated speech from 1964, Van Dyke remarked that “a lot has happened” since then but suggested progress hasn’t lived up to Martin Luther King’s dream, although he acknowledged it’s “a start.”
Despite not mentioning Harris or Trump directly in his Instagram video, Van Dyke made his political stance clear by urging followers to “VOTE!!! @kamalaharris @vp @kamalahq” in his post’s caption.
Regardless, the American people have spoken, and President Trump has triumphed over Harris in a decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election. Securing 312 Electoral College votes, Trump not only swept all seven swing states but also won the popular vote, surpassing his 2016 results against Hillary Clinton when he secured 304 Electoral College votes.
This monumental win marks Trump as the first president in over 130 years—and only the second in U.S. history—to achieve a non-consecutive second term. Despite surviving two assassination attempts within just two months, including one on July 13 where he was shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump proved once again that he is a resilient leader who refuses to back down.
While celebrities often threaten to leave the country after an election doesn’t go their way, Van Dyke took it a step further. It’s yet another example of how out of touch these liberal elites are with the everyday American voter who overwhelmingly supports Trump’s vision for America.
