It’s a new day at the Department of Defense — and this one’s all about getting back to basics: strength, unity, and readiness. Following a major Supreme Court win for President Trump, transgender service members now have between 30 and 60 days to voluntarily pack it up and head home. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made it official in a memo released Thursday.
“After a SCOTUS victory for @POTUS, TRANS is out at the DOD,” Hegseth posted on X, pairing the statement with a video that laid out the new deadlines. No sugarcoating. No confusion. Just facts.
The Pentagon says about 1,000 active-duty troops currently identify as having gender dysphoria. Under the new guidance, those individuals must be out by June 6 if they’re active duty, or July 7 for reservists. This gives them time to voluntarily separate from service before being removed — because when it comes to national defense, confusion isn’t a virtue, and clarity is kindness.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell backed the move, saying the Department of Defense was “encouraged” by the Supreme Court’s decision to lift the lower court’s injunction. That ruling cleared the path for the administration’s new policy — officially titled “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness.” Translation? We’re getting back to a military that fights wars, not feelings.
Hegseth made it clear: transgender troops can opt out voluntarily during the separation window. But after that, “those who do not comply… will be removed involuntarily if necessary.” Plain and simple. No drama needed.

Let’s be real — the Supreme Court didn’t rule on whether the ban is constitutional. It just said the Trump administration’s executive order from January 27 can be enforced while legal challenges continue. That order bars individuals from serving in the armed forces based on gender identity, not biology.
And there’s more behind this than just good order and discipline. Trump officials argue that the policy is about restoring unit cohesion, discipline, and combat readiness — things that actually matter when bullets start flying. Plus, there’s the price tag. Between 2016 and 2021, the military spent $15 million on gender-related medical treatments. That money could’ve been spent on training, equipment, or, oh, I don’t know… defending the country.
This policy officially rolls back President Obama’s 2014 decision to allow transgender individuals to serve openly. Hegseth’s directive isn’t just a one-off — it’s part of a larger mission to dismantle the entire woke machine embedded in our armed forces.
Just last month, Hegseth announced that 99.9% of DEI programs had been eliminated and that new combat fitness standards would require both men and women to meet the same benchmarks. No more participation trophies. No more lowered bars. Just excellence — across the board.
Because defending America is a calling, not a social experiment. And our troops deserve leadership that knows the difference.
