Rep. Nancy Pelosi is back on MSNBC doing what she does best: clutching her pearls and hoping the Pope will step in to stop those “mean” Trump deportations.
During a segment on Chris Jansing Reports, the host brought up the new pope’s old social media posts—because apparently now we’re judging pontiffs by their reposts. One post slammed Trump and the president of El Salvador for laughing about a deportation. Another post took aim at VP JD Vance for saying Americans should care for their families and fellow citizens before worrying about the rest of the world. Gasp!
Jansing then asked the burning question: can the pope become the “moral and ethical voice” against Trump’s so-called mass deportations?
Pelosi, never one to miss a dramatic moment, replied, “Well, I certainly hope so. And I, from his comments previous to being elected the pope, he has made clear what his values and his view of all of that is.”
She wasn’t done yet. Pelosi added, “It is important, it is really important for us to listen to the words, both of our elected officials, when they say what they say about ranking people and their importance and our religious leaders. Now, let me just say one thing more about his holiness. He is — you know, he’s from the Augustinian Order, which he headed and all the rest. So St. Augustine is special to him.”
WATCH:
Because clearly, when it comes to immigration policy, the Speaker Emerita thinks the Vatican should have veto power over U.S. law.
While President Trump is focused on enforcing the border and protecting American jobs, Pelosi is out here hoping the Pope will log onto X and clap back at the White House. Priorities, am I right?
