BREAKING: European Union Bends the Knee – Proposes ‘Zero-for-Zero’ Tariff Deal

After being hit with tariffs from President Donald Trump, the European Union is ready to play ball! European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen announced that they’d like to negotiate with the United States, proposing a zero for zero tariff deal.

“Europe is always ready for a good deal. So we keep it on the table,” she said, adding that the EU “offered zero for zero tariffs for industrial goods, … because Europe is always ready for good deal.”

WATCH:

This isn’t the first country to seek negotiation after Trump introduced reciprocal tariffs. Vietnam and Taiwan also joined the table over the weekend, pledging more investments and zero tariffs on the U.S.

On Sunday, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te proposed zero tariffs as basis for US trade talks, adding that they will not retaliate against U.S. tariffs and vowed to buy more from the United States.

On Friday, Trump announced that Vietnam wanted to “cut their tariffs down to zero” as well, following a phone call with To Lam, the General Secretary of the Community Party of Vietnam.

“Just had a very productive call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut their Tariffs down to ZERO if they are able to make an agreement with the U.S.,” the president wrote in a Truth Social post.

He added, “I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future.”

It’s almost like this is the game of chess that Trump has been playing all along. Checkmate.
